Turns out that Jay-Z, a part owner of the Nets, is also a director of Brooklyn Arena LLC, the company that owns the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Shawn Carter, Jay-Z's real name, is listed as an arena "director" in the firm's paperwork to secure a liquor license. Developer Bruce Ratner and several others are also listed as directors.
The rapper and is a investor in the Brooklyn Nets, who will play at the arena this coming season after decades in New Jersey. Jay-Z is has added yet another high-powered position to his impressive résumé.
